"I had a wonderful few weeks in the Alps. Gareth was great and we achieved a fair bit - he was very patient with me. We began with the Point Lachenal followed by Cosmiques Arete. The next day we did the Aiguille de Peigne. This was a cracking climb - in my view far harder than I remember the Matterhorn. After much discussion our week was completed by the traverse of Lyskamm. This (as you know) has been on my list for years and did not disappoint. I was ready for the cramponing but I had not anticipated the exposure. I found it best just to concentrate on my feet.
