The Val d'Hérens has a wealth of high quality ski tours accessed from the 3 small lift areas in Arolla, Evolene and la Forclaz, and the Nax ski area is only a short drive down the valley.
This Intermediate Ski Touring week is aimed at skiers who can climb 1000m per day and want to ski up to 40 degrees on day tours. There will be time for instruction on ski technique, but the main aim is to explore the lesser known descents of the valley using Graham's local knowledge to full advantage!
Possible objectives include various lines in the Val des Ignes via the Cassorte or Col des Ignes, the glacier descent to Evolene from Pointe de Vouasson, choice of lines on the Pic d'Artsinol, less frequently skied lines from Palanche de la Crettaz and cabane de Bertol, South face of the Pigne d'Arolla (fitness permitting!), Mont Rouge, Mont de l'Etoile, Col de Breona / Col de Tsaté... the possibilities are endless.
