Our Introduction to Ski Touring Course offers a sound introduction to the world of ski-touring with British Mountain Guides in the beautiful resort of Grimentz in the Swiss Alps.
Aimed at competent "red run" skiers with some off piste experience. This course is great preparation for day tours, longer tours, the Haute Route, reaching untracked powder and steeper skiing, and for climbers who want to ski to winter routes. You need reasonable fitness (regular hill walking) - all the equipment can be hired locally.
Our Introduction to Ski Touring Course aims to cover:

- Avalanche risk assessment
- Transceiver use
- Skiing uphill!
- Off piste skiing skills
- Skiing on glaciers
- Navigating on skis
- Route choice and planning
We take in some classic ski tours in the Val d'Anniviers during the week, putting learned skills into practice while enjoying the tranquility of the surrounding area and the fine skiing it offers with a little help from it's superb lift system.
The price includes 6 days of guided skiing (group ratio maximum 6:1). The course starts with meeting in the Moiry hotel in Grimentz at 8:30am on Sunday morning and finishes on Friday afternoon.

You'll need to arrange suitable insurance and your own accommodation in, and transport to and from, Grimentz.
You should bring suitable personal skiing equipment including boots, skis, skins, sticks, crampons, harness, helmet (if preferred) and rucksack. We can arrange to hire any of these items for you, please see our gear section for prices. You can download our ski touring kit list here.
